Outi Sadekallio is a Finnish actress and drama-instructor. She currently works in Helsinki in two different theatre groups Theatre ILMI Ö. and Theatre Pensas as an actress, community theatre maker and teacher. She also works as a drama teacher in a school which caters for children and teenagers with special needs. In addition she is also the secretary and one of the producers at Assitej- Finland.
Outi started acting when she was 15 years old in an amateur theatre group. After high school she graduated as a social educator from Lahti Polytechnic and later worked in children’s home and day care centres. Social work was very near to her heart, but the theatre and art scene attracted her more as she thought of ways to combine them.
In 2000 Outi was accepted into the Helsinki Polytechnics Degree Program for Performing Arts and graduated as a drama instructor in 2004. Her studies consisted of forum theatre, story telling theatre, devising theatre , community theatre and art studies. She also developed skills in improvisation, acting and direction.
During Outi's studies she co-founded two different theatre groups where she is still active. Theatre ILMI Ö. is a cooperative. Theatre ILMI Ö’s specialities are applied drama and educational work connected to children’s and youth theatre. Theatre ILMI Ö. operates in a broad range of roles from classical plays, workshops and community drama to the new methods and forms of devised theatre and performance art.
Theatre Pensas is travelling theatre company and Outi has participated with them on four tours to Nordic countries.
As a theatre maker she is very interested in community theatre and art - mixing different art forms, interactivity, happenings and researching the phenomenons of our society. She likes to use applied drama in her projects and create drama projects in different sectors of society.
