Sinje Kuhn was born in 1981 in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany. Since 2000 she worked with theatre companies in Vienna, Schwäbisch Hall and Hildesheim – assisting and occasionally acting – on productions for adults as well as for children and young people.
Since 2001 she has been studying ‘Cultural Science and Applied Aesthetics’ at the University of Hildesheim, Germany. There she focussed on the subject of theatre for children and young people. During her own practical studies she participated in several University projects concerning theatre for children and young people, for example the ‘Theaterakademie für Kinder’ (children’s theatre academy) which was a collaboration work of the University of Hildesheim and the Ruhrtriennale 2005. Right now she’s writing her thesis on the topic of audience participation in children’s theatre.
Above that she works as theatre educator with children and young people at the theatres of Hildesheim and Hannover as well as with students at the University of Hildesheim.
In theatre groups and courses she aims to - while working with theatrical methods - get to know more about these age groups, their interests, needs and questions in everday live, their ways of entering the world that surrounds them and, for sure, have fun with them in playing theatre.
She took part at the ‘Young Europe’-Program at the Danish festival for children’s and youth’s theatre in 2005.
And as a loving festival participant Sinje is really looking forward to come to Adelaide and get in contact with many other theatre-practioners and artists in the field of theatre for children and young people.
